Changed Amazon ans Smashwords descritpion for Opposable Thumb

Okay, so I just changed the long description for Opposable Thumb both at Amazon and at Smashwords, again... Although I like the fact that I can change anything I want, when I want it, it would sure have been nice to have the changes take effect immediately. It takes Amazon 48 hours to make the new description visible to viewers. Smashwords makes the changes immediately, but only on their site and you also have to resubmit your book for the Premium Catalog again. And Opposable Thumb had just been accepted back earlier today. Oh well, I guess it could be worse than three days.

Lower on this page I have placed the new description for all the bums that are to lazy to view Opposable Thumb's Amazon page or Smashwords page(I'm kidding of course).

A couple of days have past since Opposable Thumb was launched. However, only about a day or so ago did the book become simultaneously live on both Amazon and Smashwords. This was obviously my fault as I kept changing details about the book and its description and so on. Right now, although I have made lots of changes since I launched it, I am still not happy with the short and long descriptions. So, the Smashwords Premium catalog will have to wait again.
This is really frustrating because Premium status on Smashwords means distribution to all the other channels(Sony, Kobo, Nook, Barnes&Noble, Apple) so of course I want that. But at the same time, if I think that the new descriptions will have more success, then I absolutely have to modify them.

Smashwords Premium Catalog status approved and a depression session this morning.

Premium status for Opposable Thumb has been approved. It is now part of the Premium Catalog.
Soon, it will be shipped to all the other retailers that Smashwords works with(Barnes&Noble, Sony, Kobo, Apple, Amazon and Diesel).
Exposure is our friend after all.
Also, today I visited Joe Konrath's blog, as I often do. His new post is all about depression and writers, how writers have a tendency for depression. The entire post revolves around a letter from one of his fans and the current changes taking place in the publishing world. I strongly encourage everyone to read this post about depression and writers, it was a real eye opener for me.

Opposable Thumb Launch

As I promised, after three days of shoulder slumping, mind numbing effort, Opposable Thumb is ready for launch. It took make longer than expected to edit it. I must have went over the entire thing more than four times, but I guess I cannot postpone this moment forever.
So here it is! Opposable Thumb, my NaNoNovel, modified, polished and ready to meet scrutinizing eyes.
The book is live only at Smashwords for now, Amazon seems to be taking it's time, but I'm positive that it will be visible on Amazon as well in the next 12 hours.

The last couple of weeks have been nothing less than chaotic. A lot of things needed my attention and it was pretty hard to get anything done.
Nevertheless, here I am! I spent all day yesterday trying to create decent cover art for my soon to be self-published novel and here is the final result:

I might change a few things in the upcoming days, but for now I am very pleased with the way it looks. And as a bonus, I tested it out and it looks great in Grayscale. So there won't be any problems with Kindle users that view it.
Well, that's all for now. I'll be working my ass off this weekend so hopefully I'll finish editing the final scenes of the book and upload it Sunday night.

Second Draft of NaNoNovel has commenced.

I have just received the results from my test reader. The first draft of my NaNoNovel falls short of my expectations, but has a lot of good things in it that I was not counting on.
The conclusion is that the first part of the story is pretty solid, I only have some minor changes to make  to the backstory and trim things a little bit. The second part however, needs a lot more work. The most important changes that I am thinking of making are to the pacing of the story and I plan to add scenes and modify others so that the reader experiences the story through more than one POV. I will be cutting a few scenes here as well, and the most important thing, the ending, will thankfully remain the same, except for some minor tweaks.
All in all, it was a decent first draft if I do say so myself.

First Draft of NaNoNovel properly finished...almost.

Today is the day I am going to write the final words to it and it makes me feel a little sad. It is just like that feeling of loss you have when you are at the last few pages of a book.
But sadness aside, I am really very excited about finishing the story properly this time(and not with a NaNo deadline breathing down my neck).
Okay. Procrastination time over! Back to work!
